Chelsea is, and has been for more than four hundred years, where the smart set lives. Its inhabitants have included kings and queens, wits and philosophers, millionaires and artists. Please meet our guide at 10.30a.m. in Chelsea for coffee before setting off on a gentle walk. We encounter all the things which are synonymous with Chelsea — pensioners, buns and porcelain. We also learn of a poetic masterpiece which was buried in a hairy coffin; a garden which was vital to the first cotton plantations in the States; and houses whose leases forbid the

keeping of peacocks. After our walk, we break for lunch. In the afternoon we visit Tate Britain, the home of British art. Here are works by Constable, Gainsborough, Hockney, Hogarth, Moore, Turner and Chelsea resident James Whistler to name but a few. Our expert guide will weave you through the enthralling story of art in Britain over the last 500 years. There is much to look at but you will also have free time to seek out some of your own favourites. There will, of course, be time for tea and you will be waving goodbye to our guide by 4.45p.m.
