Victoria and Albert Museum

This is a day dedicated to Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg. Thanks to his involvement with the 1851 Great Exhibition, South Kensington was developed and dedicated to the arts and sciences. Today it is famous for its museums and our tour includes a visit to the best. You meet our guide for coffee at 10.30a.m. Then a short coach ride brings us to Hyde Park for a closer look at the magnificent Albert Memorial. We enjoy a gentle walk in Kensington Gardens to Kensington Palace. We hear tales of Queen Victoria and other royal inhabitants of the palace before strolling to Kensington High Street for

lunch. Of course, if you prefer, the park is a perfect place to eat a packed lunch and watch the world go by. In the afternoon we explore the Victoria & Albert Museum. Here we concentrate on the stunning British Galleries, an incredible showcase of British design between 1500 and 1900. If anyone thought that the Brits were rather restrained, not given to great shows of ostentation, a guided tour of these galleries will prove them wrong. There will be time to explore on your own and to visit the in-house cafe for afternoon tea. You will wave goodbye to our guide by 4.45p.m.
