This is a super day out. We visit two counties and two ancient towns.
The day starts in attractive Headcorn where you meet our guide at 10.30a.m. From here it’s a short drive to the delightful country pub where coffee has been booked. Then it’s off to explore the beautiful Weald of Kent. We pass through the charming town of Tenterden and on through attractive Wealden villages to Rye in East Sussex, the perfect place to have lunch. Built on a hill, Rye commands the land around it and in the town, itself, there are narrow, cobbled streets lined with picturesque timber-framed and Georgian buildings. In the Middle Ages it enjoyed status as a royal borough closely linked

to the Cinque Ports, and all around there is evidence of its past importance. After lunch our guide will take you on a gentle walking tour and tell you of royal visitors, artists and writers, and murder most foul.
We then rejoin your coach and drive the short distance to Winchelsea. This is the companion ancient town of Rye but, where Rye is bustling, Winchelsea is quiet. Here time seems to have stood still. A short walk gives us the essence of this lovely small town. We also visit the historic church of St Thomas Becket with its superb ancient tombs.
Finally, there is, of course, time for tea and you'll be heading off home by 4.45p.m.
