The Thames has always been a source of inspiration for artists and writers, there are countless songs, paintings, poems and prose based on this ancient waterway. We take a gentle meander by coach along the riverbank to give you an enchanting day out. You meet our guide in Marlow at 10.30a.m. for coffee by the river. Then we drive through the Chilterns to Henley. Here we have a guided stroll around the attractive town centre with more than 300 listed buildings and plenty of tales to be told. makes it unique but 'Three Men In A Boat' author Jerome K Jerome is buried in the graveyard of the 15th century church which also houses an unexpected treasure, the tomb of Geoffrey Chaucer's granddaughter. During the Middle Ages she was richer and more famous than her grandfather. She founded the local almshouses and school which are still used for their original purpose. Then we return to the riverside and enjoy a drive along the picturesque valley, criss-crossing the Thames for our final stop at Goring. An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the scenery was the inspiration for 'The Wind In The Willows'. We have arranged for you to take tea in a delightful spot before your journey home at 4.30p.m.
