Our tour in Oxfordshire enables you to experience some of the variety of this beautiful county. The day starts in attractive Henley-on-Thames, famous for its regatta, where you meet our guide at 10.30a.m. for coffee. Then it’s back on the coach for the drive to Dorchester Abbey. Once part of a large Augustinian priory, only the Abbey church survived the Reformation. Today it is a a jewel set amongst a rich lush landscape of willows and flowering water meadows. One of the glories of the building is the 14th century Jesse window with its richly coloured stained glass. From Dorchester we drive through gently rolling countryside to Oxford where we stop for lunch.

In the afternoon we begin our exploration of Oxford. This beautiful town with its golden-coloured stone buildings is home to the oldest university in England, but it is impossible to see where the town ends and the university begins. The two are welded inextricably together. Our guide will take you on a gentle walk and we visit Brasenose College to discover what life is really like for students today. You will hear tales of students, past and present, of strange customs and of a woman in ancient times who kept changing her mind. Finally it’s time for tea and your guide will be waving you off home by 4.45p.m.
