Today we cross from one county to another and then back again to find a wealth of contrasts and lasting impressions. Please meet our guide at 10.30a.m. in Dorking for coffee. This delightful market town enjoys wonderful views of the North Downs and Surrey Hills. Our morning walking tour reveals the town's character as our guide weaves a story that includes Jane Austen, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria. From here it's back on the coach to drive to Westerham where we break for lunch. This lovely village with its idyllic green can number great statesmen and military leaders amongst its former residents.

In the afternoon we rejoin the coach to drive the short distance to Titsey Place. One of the largest historic estates in Surrey it is surprisingly little known. This may be because it has only been open to the public since the early 1990s. Dating from the 16th century it had been in the same family until 1992 when the last remaining family member died. It now operates as a charitable trust and the house we tour today dates from the early 19th century. We also see the beautiful grounds which include a walled kitchen garden and rose garden, lakes and woods. After tea you will be homeward bound by 4.45p.m.
